A 4 kW solar system on a south facing bungalow roof, with a 30° pitch consisting of 16 all black 250 kW panels could provide you with an income from the Feed in Tariff of around £250 per year, as well as giving you savings on your electricity bills of approximately £200 each year. Over the 20 years Feed in Tariff period this could give you a profit of over £5000. The average cost of a system such as this is £5,000+VAT @ 5%, and could give you a payback time of 8-10 years.

House – 4.5 kW solar system

Average Cost: £5,000 plus VAT @ 5%
Average Income: £280 year from Feed in Tariff
Savings on your electricity bills: Approx. £300 per year (Depending on energy provider)
Profit: £6,500 (Over the 20 years of the Feed in Tariff)

On a 30°, south facing roof of a house with a 4.5 kW solar system consisting of 16 black 250 kW panels would cost in the region of £5,000+VAT @ 5%. The possible return on investment is 10-12%, with income and savings being seen from the first year that the system is installed. The savings predicted per year are around £300, whilst the Feed in Tariff could give you an income of £280 per year. Over the period of the 20 year Feed in Tariff, this equals a total profit of £6,500, and a payback time of 8-10 years.

Outbuildings – 2.85 kW solar system (High kW Panels)

Average Cost: £3,600 plus VAT @ 5%
Average Income: £140 year from Feed in Tariff
Savings on your electricity bills: Approx. £160 per year (Depending on energy provider)
Profit: £2,400 (Over the 20 years of the Feed in Tariff)
Payback period: Estimated 11-12 years
ROI: 8-9%

If your roof does not provide sufficient space for a solar system, or if you would prefer to have your system on an outbuildings, then we can also cater to this for you. A 2.85 kW solar system consisting of 10 high spec 285 kW panels costs around £3,600+VAT @ 5% to install. If placed on a south facing roof with a pitch of 35° then your yearly income from the Feed in Tariffs would be approx £140, on top of your savings of around £160 (this is based on using half of the generated electricity). This would give you a payback of 11-12 years, and a total profit of £2,400 over the 20 year feed in tariff period.

Profit: £6164.10 (Over the 20 years of the Feed in Tariff)

As part of a new solar installation in Whitchurch Shropshire, we are fitting a 4.4 kW system with extra energy capacity delivered through new 275 kW panels. With the roof being south facing and at a 30° pitch, this property is expected to save the customer over £500 a year and pay for itself in 8.5 years.
